Education at the Art Museum



Life Drawing Classes

 

Every Tuesday from 2-4:30pm, $16/session.


  1. Classes are uninstructed with no registration required.  Must be 18 years and older.

  2. Bring a portable easel.  No solvents. Chairs are available.

Students, grades K through 5, enjoy a lively interactive art museum tour tailored to meet state curriculum content standards in visual, performing and language arts.  Through storytelling sessions and hands-on activities, children learn art appreciation, artistic perception, aesthetic valuing and historic/cultural contexts.

 
History Tours introduce students, grades 2 through 4 to historical documents, artifacts and photographs within the Forbes Mill permanent collection and special exhibits, enhancing state curriculum content standards for history and social science.  Multiple learning activities include a hands-on project and storytelling session, designed to develop chronological thinking, historical interpretation and an understanding of the local community.

 
DATES AND TIMES


Art and History Tours begin at 9:00 am, 10:45 am, and 12:30 pm. 

Tours are approximately 75 minutes.


  1.   Art Tours are available Tuesday through Friday, February 1-4 and 8-11, 2011 (NEW! Additional dates: February 23-25), at the Art Museum

  2.   History Tours are available Tuesday through Friday, April 5-8, 2011 (NEW! Additional dates: April 26-28), at the History Museum



COST


Tour payment of $5 per student is due upon receipt of invoice after registration.  

Scholarships are available for Title 1 eligible schools.



GROUPS


  1.   Art Tour groups are limited to approximately 40 students.  Teachers may schedule an Art Tour  with a partner classroom.  Please specify the partner class on the registration form.

  2.   History Tour groups are limited to one class or approximately 20 students.
