April 8, 2010. Dr. Brigid Barton, Ph.D., Art Historian 

Talk: “Impressionism and the New Paris”

Dr. Brigid Barton: professor emeritus at SCU; trained docents at the de Saisset, taught at Stanford and the Cantor Museum, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; she is a high energy speaker who provides great context  art history in an accessible way; her specialty is French and German art of the modern period, particularly the art of the late 19th century and the German art of the Expressionists.


June 17, 2010. Frances Rushing, M.A., Art Historian

Talk: “Post Impressionism – Bridge to the 20th Century”

Frances Rushing: well-known and dynamic art historian in the community has taught at San Jose State and at the San Jose Museum of Art; presented for the Foothill Club and associated with The Institute for the Study of Western Civilization; Professor Rushing is well-versed in art history and is able to make the art world accessible to those who are new to this experience. (and also interesting to well-versed?)



August 12, 2010. Ursula O’Farrell, Artist

Talk: “Road to Joy: Expressionistic Paintings”

Ursula O'Farrell: considered having a prominent place in the third generation of Bay Area Figurative Painters; early grounding in classical studies in Florence and then of Abstract Expressionism; recently received one of the top prizes for "Blended Family" from Art Space 712 in San Francisco.

Talk: “The Artist’s Eye”

Special Guests: Art Docents of Los Gatos

Dr. Michael Marmor: has written two books on the topic of artists and eye disease; associated with Stanford University School of Medicine; combining computer simulation with his own medical knowledge, Marmor has created images of some of the masterpieces of the French impressionistic painters such as Monet and Degas who struggled with cataracts and retinal disease; Marmor questions if "...the artists intended these late works to look exactly as they do."
