Winter 2008 - 2009
Exhibition Description
Our winter exhibition, Painterly Painting: The Next Level, will
showcase the work of thirteen established artists: Eduardo Alvarado, Suhas Bhujbal,
Kim Frohsin, John Goodman, Dennis Hare, Mitchell Johnson, Alex Kanevsky, Paul
Lorenz, Anthony May, Waldemar Mitrowski, Nathan Oliveira, Siddharth Parasnis, and Brook Temple. The
artists featured in this group exhibit come from diverse backgrounds and
cultures, but share common inspiration from both the Bay Area Figurative
Movement and the American Abstract Expressionist Movement of the 1950's and
1960's. While viewing Painterly Paintings: The Next Level, students will
relate to familiar scenes and objects, and venture into the imaginary world of
the abstract. Each work of art reveals an opportunity to explore varieties of
line, form and texture, as well as a range of color expression, from subtle to
bold.
