John C. Agg, Executive Director

John brings considerable organizational strengths and a passion for Art and History. Previously, with both a Finance and Operations background, he was the founder of three technology companies and involved in both large-scale computers, computer systems and the semi-conductor industries. He has worked with numerous venture capital firms. Subsequently he acquired and operated a series of art galleries in the Bay Area. This activity as well as his seat on The Museums of Los Gatos Board of Directors for the last ten years has enabled him to sustain a lifelong love of the arts.
Ymelda Rivera Laxton, History Curator

Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ymelda was immersed in a vibrant museum culture that eventually led her to pursue a History degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas and a graduate Museum Studies degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. Though her academic research focused on Indigenous representation in museums, her general interest was rooted in exploring how museums could be accessible community resources for history and identity. She worked as a Collections Assistant for the Henry Art Gallery and Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture during her graduate studies and have since then worked as a Curator, Collections Manager, Museum Contractor, and Archivist in a variety of museums in Washington, New York, Texas, and New Mexico.
Emily R. Welch, Exhibitions Manager

Emily has extensive experience in photographic practice and preservation. She is a past-Project Manager at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film for the Institute of Museum and Library Services grant-funded project Notes on Photographs, a web-based learning resource, in which the public was invited to be part of the contributing community. Emily has a M.A. in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management, offered jointly by Ryerson University and George Eastman House of Photography and Film and a B.A. in Photography from the University of Washington, Seattle. She apprenticed with Rod Slemmons, a private photographic conservator, and worked for six years as a master printer preserving historic negatives for museums and historical societies.
Heather O’Hare, Operations Manager

Heather is a San Jose local and graduated at Santa Clara University with a B.S. in Psychology. Wanting to experience the world before settling into a desk job, she packed up and joined a cruise line for 3 years. After embarking on various adventures and battling Caribbean monkeys and the cobblestone roads of Europe, she returned back to her roots in the Bay Area. Heather has 10 years Administration experience, working at Moore Buick Pontiac GMC Truck in Los Gatos for 5 of those years.
Becky Levine, Development Associate

Becky Levine is a California native, and has been proud to call Los Gatos home for the last 20 years. Becky worked first as a writer and editor in the computer industry, then as a freelance book and magazine writer and manuscript editor. Becky now brings her extensive compositional and editorial skills to her role as The Museums of Los Gatos’ Development Associate to amplify organizational development and fundraising.
